Supervision for Compulsive Sexual Behaviour (CSB)

Specialist Supervision in Compulsive Sexual Behaviour & Sexual Addiction

As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor (CSAT-S) with IITAP, I provide specialist supervision for therapists working with compulsive sexual behaviour (CSB), sexual addiction, problematic pornography use, and betrayal trauma.

This is a distinct and complex field requiring structured treatment planning, risk management, and careful attention to trauma and attachment dynamics.

Supervision is suitable for:

  • Therapists in CSB training
  • Qualified CSB clinicians
  • Therapists integrating addiction and trauma models into practice
  • Clinicians supporting partners impacted by betrayal

Clinical Focus

Supervision in this area includes:

  • Assessment and differential diagnosis (CSB vs high desire vs moral incongruence)
  • Structured recovery planning and accountability systems
  • Disclosure processes and partner stabilisation
  • Shame dynamics and attachment trauma
  • Relapse management
  • Managing splitting, minimisation, and denial
  • Ethical and professional risk management

Given the intensity of this work, supervision also addresses therapist emotional responses, boundary management, and vicarious trauma.

My Supervisory Philosophy

Supervision is not simply case discussion. It is a disciplined professional process.

I work within structured contracting and clear ethical frameworks consistent with BACP, UKCP, COSRT, IITAP, and IAPST standards.

I aim to:

  • Promote clinical competence and conceptual clarity
  • Strengthen therapist authority and containment
  • Develop reflective capacity
  • Maintain ethical accountability
  • Support long-term professional growth

My style is relational but structured. I balance attunement with clinical precision and will challenge areas of drift, over-identification, or risk.

Supervision is available:

  • Individually or in small groups
  • In person (London) or online
  • For training hours or ongoing specialist development

A formal supervision agreement is established at the outset and reviewed annually.
