The Heroic Men’s Psychotherapy and Recovery Group provides ongoing therapeutic and recovery support for men addressing compulsive sexual behaviour and related difficulties.
The group may be suitable for men who have completed the One-Week Men’s Intensive Programme or who have undertaken sufficient individual therapy and recovery work to participate safely and meaningfully in a group.
The group combines psychotherapy, psychoeducation, structured reflection and group process. It provides a confidential space in which men can speak honestly, receive support and feedback, and deepen their understanding of themselves and their behaviour.
The Purpose of the Group
Beginning recovery is important, but maintaining it requires continued attention, honesty and support. The group helps participants move beyond simply trying to stop a behaviour and towards developing greater emotional awareness, responsibility and connection with others.
Areas of focus may include:
- Maintaining recovery and recognising warning signs
- Developing honesty and accountability
- Understanding emotional and situational triggers
- Managing shame without avoiding responsibility
- Strengthening emotional regulation
- Exploring attachment, trauma and relationship patterns
- Developing healthier boundaries
- Addressing the impact of behaviour on partners and families
- Developing a healthier and more integrated sexuality
- Building supportive relationships with other men
- Responding constructively to setbacks or relapse
The work is both supportive and challenging. Participants are encouraged to contribute to the group, reflect on feedback and take responsibility for their continuing recovery.
Group Structure
The group meets every Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
Most sessions take place online via Zoom. The third Tuesday of each month is held in person at my Central London practice.
The fee is £85 per session, and participants are asked to make an initial commitment of at least six months. This provides sufficient time to establish trust, become part of the group and engage meaningfully with the work.
Joining the Group
Participation begins with an individual assessment to consider your current recovery, therapeutic needs and readiness for group work.
Attendance at a 12-step fellowship or another recovery-support community may also be helpful for some participants. The group complements these forms of support but does not require every participant to follow the same recovery pathway.
