Psychotherapy & Counselling – What is it?
Psychotherapy and counselling offer a safe environment where you can express your feelings and gain valuable information regarding the inner mechanisms of how you think and feel.
As part of therapy and/or counselling, a highly trained practitioner will assist you on a one-to-one basis, in a group, or could include a partner or family member(s) depending on your individual needs and circumstances.
Psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling are talking therapies… Used to treat emotional problems and mental health issues. – UKCP, 2020
How long does it take?
Timescales can vary from short to long term sessions accounting for your feelings, your progress, and the complexity of the issues presented. Some types of therapy may last two years or more, but it is not the same for everyone.
Online vs. In person
The internet has opened up new avenues for mental health treatment. Today, online therapy is equally effective as in-person and studies show this.
We found that online cognitive behavioural therapy is, “effective, acceptable and practical health care.” The study found the online cognitive behavioural therapy was equally as effective as face-to-face treatment. – Morin, A. (2019)
Online sessions prevent the tendency for us to make excuses. Mental health issues can arise suddenly and if you dwell on it chances are, by the time you come to seek help you may feel ‘okay’ and put it off due to the inconvenience associated with travelling (cost, bad weather, social anxiety, mobility problems, waiting, etc.).
Online psychotherapy and counselling grants users ease of access and provides the same standard of quality including accredited services and health professionals with the added benefit of staying in the confines of your own home! Even though we are a London practice, online sessions allow people who want to see a specialist the opportunity to do so no matter where they live.

Taking the next step
A single brick does not make a house – nor’ will one counselling or therapy session solve all your issues. Understand that the best thing you can do for yourself, or a loved one, who is experiencing any mental issues is to get help and start now.
It’s important to remember that you are not weak, and you are not alone. Slow down. Take a breath. Don’t allow others to hurry your healing. It is a process, one that may take years, occasionally, even a lifetime – and that’s OK. Contact one of our friendly team on +44 2074934488
